History: Jefferson Davis Rockwell was born in Texarkana, Arkansas to a farming family. Growing up J.R. always had a fascination with fire, more so than any other children. Around the age of seven he found that he could light candles by just focusing on them. One day while playing with some candles down in the basement an accident happened and Jeff lit a pile of newspapers by mistake. The fire soon got out of hand and everyone in the house hold was burned, except for Jeff who got out through the outside stairway.
When questioned by the authorities about the incident no one believed Jeff when he said that he started it by using his mind. Instead they wrote it off as a furnace spitting out sparks. Young Jefferson was sent to live with his uncle, who watched the boy light a candle during a power outage without using a match or lighter. He later pulled Jack aside and asked him how he was able to light candles without using a match or a lighter. When J.R. told him that all he had to do was to focus his will and the wax stick was lit. Jefferson's uncle then explained to the boy that his family has a long tradition of magical abilities, with J.R.'s being fire elemental.
Giving Jeff the mage name of Indrid Cold, his uncle began to train him to control and use his power more efficiently. The training continued up until Indrid's uncle was struck by a drunk driver on his way home from the store. J.R. rushed to the hospital where his uncle told him that to further control his abilities that J.R. would need to find a fire opal and enchant it.
With this information Jefferson set off to find the opal and advance his power. His journey took him to New Orleans where J.R. found the stone at a Voodoo shop. However while acquiring the gem, Indrid ran afoul of a local gang. Even though he managed to down two of his assailants Indrid was tackled to the ground and was beaten. The last thing Jeff remembered before he fell unconscious was the ground shaking and the men flying into the air. The room was spinning when he opened his eyes, spotting a young girl sitting in the corner of an office. Introductions were made, where Indrid learned his savior was Sunny Monroe and he is in a safe house for an organization TheEND. Grateful for the rescue Indrid asked permission to join the group and was welcomed into it.
Powers: Able to create and control small fires, but larger fires and infernos are beyond his control.
DETAILED SAMPLE ROLEPLAY POST:
The rain was coming down in buckets in New Orleans, Louisiana. Walking through the back alleyways was a tall man dressed in a black leather duster and wearing a matching hat. J.R. was whistling a cheery little tune as he made his way toward the building at the other end of the alley. "Well here I am at last, Le Manoir du Diable. Such a quaint and happy little place isn’t it?" The voodoo shop towered over the other buildings around it, as the lightning seemed to make the eye-like upstairs windows glare down at the young mage. “Well let’s get this over with before someone sees me.”
Quick glances around let Jeff know that the coast was clear, at least for right now. He knelt down and reached into his coat pocket, withdrawing a lock picking kit. Just as he was about to unlock the door he stopped. The sound of muffled voices and footsteps could be heard through the pouring rain. Shit. Please don’t let it be the cops. That’s all I need right now. Indrid quickly inserted the pick and began working on the lock. After what seemed like an hour, he heard the satisfying “click” of the lock turning. Bingo! Now let’s make this quick. He quickly went inside, lit a candle from his pocket, and began his search for the fire opal.
